Ms. Mirna Fernandez
Mirna Inés Fernández is a young Bolivian woman passionate about the conservation of biodiversity, art and culture. She studied Environmental Engineering and Fine Arts in parallel, and afterwards she completed a master’s degree in Biodiversity and Tropical Ecosystems thanks to an Erasmus Mundus scholarship. She got involved in volunteering from an early age, being part of global youth movements focused on issues of climate change, biodiversity and sustainable development. She is a co-founder of Reacción Climática, a citizen collective promoting joint actions against climate change in Bolivia. She is also a Steering Committee member of the Global Youth Biodiversity Network and a co-founder of its Bolivian chapter, Kaaijayu-GYBN Bolivia. Her work experience goes through environmental impacts assessments, formal and non-formal education, environmental advocacy and technical assistance to Indigenous Peoples and local Communities. She is currently pursuing a diploma course in Community Development and Comprehensive Technical Assistance and works in consultancies focused on technical assistance to facilitate sustainable development projects in rural areas.
